Building Trust in Intuit Assist

Overview

As Lead Content Designer & Strategist for Intuit-wide generative AI experiences, I was responsible for crafting clear, transparent, and legally sound disclaimers ahead of the September 2023 launch of Intuit Assist. With hundreds of employees working on this emerging AI technology, we needed to ensure that customers understood the limitations of Intuit Assist while maintaining trust and engagement. Our disclaimers had to balance transparency about AI’s capabilities and risks with a seamless user experience.

My Role & Approach

I collaborated cross-functionally with product designers, researchers, product managers, legal teams, and engineers to define content guidelines and messaging strategies that:

  • Set clear expectations about AI limitations (inaccuracy, inconsistency, and potential biases)

  • Designed key product touch points for disclaimers, including welcome messages, static chat drawer content, and opt-in prompts

  • Created a scalable framework for AI transparency that could evolve with the product

Outcome

Through strategic content design and alignment across teams, we successfully launched Intuit Assist with customer-first disclaimers that were clear, actionable, and legally compliant—ensuring users felt informed and in control while engaging with AI-powered experiences.
